Unconditional & Unreserved Father’s Love
“To her, the name of father was another name for love.” —Fanny Fern
A quiet and silent father, a painter with poor education and writing, has a good relationship with his daughter. She is the apple of his father’s eyes. When she planned to get married, he was almost reluctant to marry her to someone else. Even so, he would like to say something on her wedding day. In case he was too intense and emotional to remember what to say, he wrote it down so that he could read it to her and her son-in-law that day.
While the day arrived, his daughter and son-in-law kneeled down in front of him. Father’s hands trembled and he took his specially prepared cheat sheet out of the pocket. He slowly and carefully read the sentence and almost burst into tears:
“The first one who carries her in the arms is me, not you.”
“The first one who kisses her is me, not you.”
“The first one who protects and takes care of her is me, not you.”
“However, I hope that it is you who can accompany her for the rest of her life, not me.”
“If one day you change your mind and do not love her anymore, please tell me and do not tell her. I will take her back home without hurt feelings and a broken heart.”
The whole passage was full of emotions and fully reflected the father’s love. Many guests heard it and were touched a lot. Especially those women who already married. They would recall the time when they really left their parents or their native family. All sorts of feelings and memories crowded upon their minds.
No matter she is married or not and no matter how old she is, she is always her father’s little girl.
The love between a father and a daughter is forever and ever.
This moving moment would last for a long time in everyone’s heart.
